- The Budha (Mercury) Mahadasha lasts for 17 years. Therefore, scriptures recommend lighting 17 lamps and offering prayers to Lord Budhan at Thiruvenkadu. Devotees undergoing Mercury Dasha are advised to circumambulate the shrine 17 times and worship with 17 lamps for favorable results.

2. Green Gram Lamp Worship
Between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM on Wednesdays (Budha Hora):

- Fill a brass plate with green gram.
- Place a five-wick lamp on it.
Light the lamp and pray to Lord Budhan.
3. Offer Green Gram Payasam
Prepare green gram Payasam on Wednesdays, offer it to Lord Sudarshana in a Perumal temple, and distribute it as Prasadam.
4. Green Gram Under the Pillow
On Wednesday night:
- Tie a handful of green gram in a green cloth.
- Place it under your pillow while sleeping.
5. Nine-Day Remedy
Begin the above practice on a Wednesday and continue for nine consecutive days. On the ninth day, tie the green gram into a bundle and immerse it in flowing water.
6. Donate Green Clothing
Perform Vastra Daanam by donating green-colored clothes, the color associated with Mercury.
7. Tulsi Service
Grow Tulsi plants and donate them regularly to a Vishnu (Perumal) temple. This is believed to attract Mercury’s blessings and positive changes in life.
8. Honor Your Maternal Uncle
Mercury is traditionally associated with maternal relatives. Showing respect and support to your maternal uncle by:
- Inviting him home
- Offering meals
- Presenting green-colored clothing

9. Wednesday Prosperity Ritual
On Wednesdays:
- Place green gram on a brass plate.
- Arrange 9 betel leaves, 9 areca nuts, and 9 one-rupee coins.
- Offer prayers to Lord Budhan with sincere devotion.
10. Light Ghee Lamps
During Mercury Dasha, light ghee lamps every Wednesday evening in temples dedicated to:
- Dhanvantari
- Sudarshana
- Lord Perumal (Vishnu)
