Budhan Temple Thiruvengadu
It is considered auspicious to perform special pujas to Lord Buddha on Wednesdays to remove the evil of Buddha and to grant knowledge and wisdom to the devotees. The offerings made to Lord Buddha are moss and green cloth. The key benefits derived from worshipping Lord Budhan at this temple include: the boon of marriage, the blessing of progeny, relief from *Pitru Dosha* (ancestral curses), excellence in education, progress and profitability in business, enhancement of skills in arts, music, astrology, mathematics, and languages, growth in political stature, and complete relief from nerve-related disorders.
To attain these, the devotees need to light 17 herbal oil lamps (agal vilakku in tamil) for Budhan deity and worship him by circumambulating the deity 17 times. Following this, they need to offer annadhana(free food) for 17 people.
